“It is December 17th 2017 and while everybody is getting ready for Christmas holidays (or panic, if you like), 11 EHA boys with their family members have met at little hotel in Most, the town in western part of Czech republic. There is not much time to waste before bedtime, as preparation camp of the Trip A+ event, which these kids attend, starts with on-ice practice already 8:00 o’clock next morning. 7 of the boys, already EHA players, know exactly what they should expect on the ice next day, while 4 new aspirants fall to sleep with more or less expectation of the new and the unknown. For them means their performance during coming 3 days possibility to enter EHA’s development program as well as possibility to play with the team on following tournament.” This is how it could sound like, if the story was told in the real time – however, these events have already passed and that’s why will we continue to describe them in the past – so here we go:
Preparation on ice in Chomutov and Louny
Next morning, after breakfast, have mentioned 11 players with accompaniment moved to beautiful, quite new SD Arena in Chomutov, app. 25 km from Most. It was here, where the 2 on-ice sessions of the first preparation day was completed. Practice and excercises had high tempo and all players have confirmed, that they’ve got what it takes to play ice hockey on highest level. It applies also for Jan Hamřík, the 12th player, who joined the team on preparation camp after the first session. Here it is also a right place to thank to all parsonel of SD Arena in Chomutov, in particular to Mrs. Podlipná and Mrs. Stanislavová, who has been a nice and very helpfull host. Thanks.
Another 2 on-ice sessions within preparation camp took place on Tuesday, December 19th. Players could sleep little longer, as first session started on 8:25 o’clock. Yes yes, 25 minutes later than day before – what is that…? But those, who does not exactly love to get out of bed in the morning – and most of kids belongs to this group – know very well, how precious 25 minutes can be, right? This time the team moved another direction, to little town Louny. Ice rink in Louny was far older and definitely colder than arena in Chomutov, but its age did not prevent the team to complete the practice. And regarding the cold – it was really compensated by rink’s personel, which without hesitating helped, when team manager (Peter) forgot EHA jerseys at the hotel and team went on the ice 10 minutes later. Ice rink’s leader, Mr. Slavíček reacted immediatelly, took home team’s jerseys out and added 15 minutes to our ice time. Great thanks for that to him as well as to whole personel of ice rink in Louny. We believe, that we will meet them again.
All aspirants completed the Try-out
Preparation camp of this event was important for whole team, but especially for 4 new EHA aspirants – 1 goalie and 3 players. And all of them was a nice surprice for EHA’s coaches – so they could after last session of preparation camp with pleasure announce, that all 4 boys have completed their Try-out with rating ‘A’ and will represent EHA on coming Christmas Cup 2017.
As Christmas Cup 2017 for U13 category was running simultaneously with EHA’s preparation camp, boys have had a possibility to feel the atmosphere, when they visited couple of games in Most or Bílina. Now all they had to do was to wait for their turn… 🙂
